When prejudice and hate are spewed forth,
in conventions and meetings and living room lounges,
humanity shudders.
When doctrines of superiority and racism are flung,
in talk-shows and Q & A’s and town halls and pillow talk,
humanity recoils.
Hate speech is not free,
it enslaves minds, infecting countless folk,
hate speech is not free,
it denigrates the dignity of swathes of humanity,
who are still trying to shake off racisms’ tyrannical yoke.
Hate speech is not free.
Hate speech is not free speech.
I agree my friend.

But sometimes the young have difficulty of understanding the difference. They hear what they want to hear and I think this is what makes hate speech and monitoring it so difficult

you are right, Deb … the line between the two is so blurred nowadays that it does make the youth hear what they want to, disregarding other views etc.
may saner heads and hearts prevail is we are to have this 21st century of ours less bloody than the century of world wars and nuclear posturing etc.
warmest wishes and peace ✌

You may disagree with my heart felt belief. I believe that as in example of Antifa, sometimes hate speech is used as a defense against hate. That is just a mask. All hate speech is wrong but when folks take it upon themselves to label those that disagree with them as haters it is a dangerous road that can lead to very bad times. The Thugee thought that roadside murder was a tribute to their GOD>

agreed 100% – simply labelling the ideas ans talk of people one disagrees with as ‘hate speech’ is contrary to the very basic tenets of free-speech. like someone once said ‘free speech is not ‘allowing’ people you agree with speak freely but extending the same freedoms to hoses whose views you may totally opposed to’. and yes it is a dangerous road when for the sake of narrow agendas, people just choose to condemn the views of people they do not agree with as ‘hate-speech’. what I was referring to were the racial stereotypes and racial epithets hurled against ALL races and ALL religions – just as Germany and 16 other European countries have laws banning holocaust-denial and neo-nazis from publishing or speaking who use racial and religious epithets to further their agenda. It is also hate speech whomever it is directed against if it advocates hatred and stirring up violence against anyone, black, white and all of the people that we share this world with. and I absolutely agree with you – all hate speech is wrong – there can be and should be no distinction as to who is spouting hate. And yes, when it comes to religion and murder and intolerance and fanaticism – also 100% agreed with you. Just as in South Africa, the system of Apartheid was justified under “white Christian belief” and so too the hate of the Taliban and other religious fanatics are just as heinous especially when murder and oppression of ANY group or religion is carried out in the name of their “god”.

so yes again, my friend, ALL hate-speech is wrong. ALL speech that promotes hate of any racial or religious or sectarian or communal or cultural group is wrong. 100% agreed.
