my wishes are simple,
desires few,
gazing upon a leaf,
nourished by dew.

my wishes are simple,
dreams hardly grand,
hearing birdsong in the desert,
together, hand in hand.

my wishes are simple,
my heart calm,
resting with you ‘neath the palm,

years rattling bones,
wrinkling skin,
greying our hair,
ever so thin.

my wishes are simple,
walking in the rain,

leaning on each other,
through life’s joy, pain … … …

no blue monday for you

no blue monday for you

when tears moisten your eyes
and the horizons seem leaden
weighed down by grey skies

when
everyone
everything

suffocates
and life seems like a sad circus
a comical convergence of fates

may you always
always

pause …
to
remember …

that
you are human too

and
that
you feel

deep in your marrow
your entire being through

the sting of griefs fire
and
the ache of unquenched desire

felt
deep

felt true
within you

finding myself …

if she asks
                   do tell her

      it was having lost her

that led me down the path

                           to finding myself

at last

when quivering lips meet

&

tongues

& whispers soothe each sigh

the ache of two vagabond souls yearning to share a few moments,

to share, to feel again,
memories and pain intermingled

seeking a peace so elusive to find …

‘it’s then
I must still my thundering heart, my love

&
close my eyes,

just hoping against reason,
that when I awake

you shall still be lying here beside me

and that you shall still
be mine

when soft hues meet

waltzing
quivering tongues
& whispers entwine

your hair across my chest

… so shhh my love, my life,
say barely a word

just lie here
& be mine

dreams of you …

in dreams of you

your kisses slip

falling

fluttering as petals do

washing over me
caressing away pain

as gentle as the jo’burg rain
