when death comes calling,
slipping effortlessly to rest by my side,
i will not flee, i will not try to hide,
i will not seek to scurry away,
i will embrace the dying of the day,
i will not cling to each breath,
i will not cower before death,
i will not try to escape it’s grip,
i will not steady myself as i slip,
for i know my betrayals well,
and i will have no more lies to tell,
so when death comes calling,
i will wade into the dark incoming tide,
for i am far too tired to continue to hide.

Powerful thanks. I was knocked out and seriously injured in a car accident many years ago, fortunately I recovered. But I caught a glimpse of what it feels like to just have it all end it one bang. I remember the vehicles colliding and then next thing I remember is waking up 30 minutes later in an ambulance. Your time is now, try not to worry about the rest.

Even though I’m religious, I very much fear death. I guess the reason I am religious is because I fear death! Thank you for liking one of the posts on my blog.

Very powerful and real. I once read ‘we will never live until we know death walks by our side’

It’s so easy to remember it when we see it up close, but the veils fall over our hearts soon after, and we return to heedlessness. May your soul be ready when that angel comes. Not a moment of regret, nor sadness over what you’ll leave behind.

I enjoyed your words and thoughts Afzal. I liked the ancient Native American wisdom. If you look very quickly to your right shoulder. Death is waiting. Just another journey, we must take.

Wow. That is very powerful and a wonderful lesson for me to quit clinging so tightly to… well, a lot of things. This is wonderful. Thank you!
