The Deluge …
finally the deluge,
skipping rhythmic heartbeats,
leaving behind rats racing on frenetic city streets,
caressing lonesome weeds, sprinkling crystal beads on gently waving reeds,
soft sprinkling rain,
a soothing balm banishing pain,
lulling, cajoling, comforting weary evenings,
glistening leaves
on rain soaked trees,
hope afloat on the misty breeze,
each blade of grass shimmering,
rough diamonds strewn about,
the rainbows in every drop glistening,
settling in my heart,
softly lilting touches of peace, of truth,
hushed promises of a new start
of finally being a part,
as the rains sweep away,
the debris of the now,
the numb detritus of yesterday.
It’s a beautiful poem and beautiful images.Great writing

Not insensitive at all. We’re just jealous of Joburg’s annual flooding and hoping we’ll get volumes like that this winter.

You write so beautifully. You also post so many great messages about women and life that need to be heard. Peace and light my friend.

thank you! really thank you! such warm words and sentiments – and yes the time has long past for us to stand up and make our collective voices heard against spousal abuse, child molestation, gender-based violence, the suppression of women’s rights, female genital mutilation amongst so many evils that still thrive in this the 21st century. it is a shame and a disgrace that misogyny still walks the streets. all power to the women! and all power to those progressive movements who are on the forefront in the struggle against hetero-patriarchy. the struggles continue in our day to day lives.
thank you again for your very warm words. they inspire me to keep on scribbling.
